HO: Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) is a brand-new university and develops into a modern, pioneering University able to offer education and high-level research in leading branches of science and technology which have high impact on the economic, technical, and scientific sectors in Cyprus and in Europe. Two CUT Departments are involved in this project, the Department of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Food Science (ABF) and the Department on Nursing. Both Departments are unique University Departments on the island that offers education in Agriculture and Nursing, respectively. ABF covers a variety of disciplines, from animal husbandry to crop production and food science. CUT funding comes from the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation (RPF), FP6, FP7, INTERREG projects, private sector funding. The research team from CUT participating in this project has accumulated extensive research experience on MAP cultivation and usage of plants extracts and EOs, Hydroponic cultivations, Environmental Impact Assessment. Members of the team have worked on related research projects in Europe and they have received competitive grants from private and public funding agencies in Europe and elsewhere.

PA1: E.U.C. Research Centre Ltd (EUC) established in 2008, is an independent non-profit making organization with the mission to enhance and promote scientific research (basic & applied), in Cyprus and Mediterranean. Through coordination and participation in national, international, and EU funded research programs, the centre’s research associates have developed important action in a wide spectrum of research areas, including the Information and Communication Technologies, Business, Socioeconomic Sciences, Health Sciences, and Humanities. The vision of EUC is to inspire, promote, and cultivate a research culture that will inevitably lead to the acquisition and accumulation of knowledge, as well as to scientifically informed problem solving in all societal domains.

PA2: M.CH.GARDENS LTD (GARDENS) infrastructure is in the area of Anogyra, Limassol. The farms are open field, and PA2 is already exporting his produce. GARDENS fully supports the Opti-AromaQ proposal, providing the tools to the SMEs for determination of the MAP cultivation and their product exploitation in Cyprus.

PA3: Development Agency of Limassol LTD (ANELEM LTD) was founded in 2005 in the area of the Kouri-Xylourikou 11 communities’ complex in order to implement the EU Leader initiative. The aim of the agency is the development of the Limassol district through contribution in the preservation and management of natural and cultural resources, the introduction of innovation, entrepreneurship promotion, use of renewable energy sources towards economic and social development.

FRO1 (Foreign Research Organization): University of Athens (UA): The working group of the Department of Pharmacognosy & Chemistry of Natural Products is located in the premises of the School of Pharmacy (UA). The team’s Head is Prof Helen Skaltsa and the group contains over 15 researchers. A significant part of the activities of the group refers to the Phytochemistry, i.e. isolation and identification of secondary metabolites from medicinal and aromatic plants [Sesquiterpene lactones, iridoids, diterpenoids, flavonoids, phenylethanoid glycosides, monoterpene glucosides, phenolic glycosides, phloroglucinols, EOs etc].

FRO2 (Foreign Research Organization): University of Belgrade (UB) The working group of the Department for Plant Physiology is located in the premises of the University of Belgrade (UB). The team’s Head is Principal Research Fellow, Dr Marina Sokovic and the group contains PhD students and researchers. Group activities refer to the testing of biological activity of natural products with special attention to antibacterial and antifungal potential of natural products towards plant, animal and human pathogenic microorganisms, as well as mycotoxic producers and food contaminants. Moreover, research activities have been focused to testing of different mechanisms of action of natural products using bacterial and fungal model systems (i.e. Pseudomonas aeruginosa).

FRO3 (Foreign Research Organization): NCSR «DEMOKRITOS» (NCSR) The Chemical Ecology & Natural Products Laboratory at NCSR “Demokritos” has over 20 years’ experience in chemical ecology and development of biotechnological methods for integrated pest management programs. Main Research activities include: i) Chemical ecology: isolation and identification of biologically active compounds relating to insect chemical communication and plant – insect interactions, and ii) Development of biocides of biological origin (Biological Control Agents) and technologies for their incorporation in integrated pest management systems. Experience in EU projects: FAIR, CT96-1302, INCO, CT2001-10004, ENAROMaTIC:FP7-HEALTH, OLEFINE:H2020-NMBP-BIO, PHERA H2020
